Meet Our Team

Shayna Ferguson

Manager/Loan Officer

I have been an employee of the Lakota Federal Credit Union since October 18, 2012 – shortly after the credit union received its charter and before we officially opened our doors to the public in November that year. As a manager, I play many roles here at the credit union. I also do underwriting for loan products, assist members with opening accounts, open Share Certificates, and work the teller line processing everyday transactions for members.

I was born on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation here in South Dakota and am a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. After graduating as valedictorian of the class of 2005 at Red Cloud Indian High School, I attended South Dakota State University and then later Oglala Lakota College.

My goal is to provide our surrounding communities with easier access to a financial institution, which is member owned and not-for-profit. I enjoy conducting community outreach to the Oglala Lakota Nation and encouraging our people to utilize the products and tools that we provide here at home on the Reservation.

Beatrice Curry

Member Service Representative

It is a pleasure serving as a member service representative of Lakota Federal Credit Union. I joined LFCU in October of 2013 and have gotten to know many of our members. It has been rewarding to see our members improve and learn their finances, as we are the first and only credit union on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

During the time I’ve been employed here, I have completed several trainings, workshops, and webinars that have taught me a lot. I have learned how to prepare income tax returns and to be a loan officer. I also take care of all of the insurance and liens for Lakota Federal Credit Union and help out with anything where I’m needed.

Working for the credit union has allowed me to learn and grow as a person – not only for me but also for my two daughters. I have become a firm and steadfast believer in the credit union philosophy. Credit unions are much more service oriented because very member is an owner, not just a customer. Plus, credit unions take a genuine interest in what is best for their members. Members helping members is what we do, and I really enjoy it. I feel privileged working with our members and our caring, professional staff and board.

I am currently a Member Service Representative and have been employed with the Lakota Federal Credit Union since November 2016. It has been an honor and my pleasure being able to work with our very own Native-owned federal credit union on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

I was born on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota but I was raised in Darby, Montana. I moved back to South Dakota in 2006. I graduated Box Elder Job Corps in Nemo, South Dakota, in 2011. After graduation I moved to Kyle and enrolled in college for my Business Associate’s Degree.

Kellie Rooks

Teller/Member Service Representative

I am an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, born and raised on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. However, I attended Sherman Indian High School in Riverside, California, where I graduated with honors and on the Principal’s List.

I started with the Lakota Federal Credit Union in September of 2017. My roll as a Member Service Representative has helped me reach my goal of being able to help our members with everyday financial needs, such as utility bill pay, opening savings and checking accounts – all while maintaining a healthy relationship with our members and surrounding communities. My long-term goal of instilling the credit union philosophy, “People Helping People,” has had a huge impact on not only my position with LFCU, but also within my own growing family.
